    Information on Programs Offered:

Dental Assistant Program Details- Dental Assistants perform various patient care, office and laboratory duties in both small and large dental practices. They're responsible for making patients as comfortable as possible, preparing them for treatment, and obtaining dental records. During a patient exam, Dental Assistants hand instruments and materials to dentists, and keep patients' mouths clear by using suction or other devices.

Dental Assistants also sterilize instruments and equipment, prepare tray setups for dental procedures, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care. Some Dental Assistants prepare materials for making impressions and restorations, expose radiographs, and process dental x-ray film.

Dental Assistants also may remove sutures, apply anesthetics to gums or cavity-preventive agents to teeth, remove excess cement used in the filling process, and place rubber dams on the teeth to isolate them for individual treatment.

Those with laboratory duties make casts of the teeth and mouth from impressions taken by dentists, clean and polish removable appliances, and make temporary crowns. Dental Assistants with front office duties schedule and confirm appointments, receive patients, keep treatment records, send bills, receive payments, and order dental supplies.

Medical Assistant Program Details- Medical Assistants perform routine administrative and clinical tasks in the offices and clinics of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and optometrists. In small practices, they are "generalists," who handle both administrative and clinical duties and report directly to an office manager, physician, or other health practitioner. Those in large practices tend to specialize in a particular area under the supervision of department administrators.

Medical Assistants perform many administrative duties. They answer telephones, greet patients, update and file patient medical records, fill out insurance forms, handle correspondence, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services, and handle billing and bookkeeping.

Clinical duties vary according to state law, and may include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during the examination. Medical Assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments.

Medical Billing & Coding Program Details- Medical Billing and Coding Specialists are primarily responsible for submitting documentation of care they've provided to insurance companies.

To do this, they handle day-to-day medical billing procedures, complete claim forms, schedule appointments, explain insurance benefits to patients and bill insurance companies, They also may be responsible for office bookkeeping and other administrative duties.

Medical billing is a doctor's key to getting paid. Every medical office has a need to maintain patient financial accounts and arrange for collecting payment of services. This involves knowing the different methods of billing insurance companies and patients, understanding various collection methods, and having a good working knowledge of medical terminology.

Coding- In order to be reimbursed for services, medical facilities must document all activities using correct medical terminology. This is referred to as ‘coding.'

Pharmacy Technician Program Details- Pharmacy Technicians help licensed pharmacists provide medication and other health care products to patients. Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication for patients, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles. Technicians refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist.

Technicians receive written prescriptions or requests for prescription refills from patients. They may also receive prescriptions sent from the doctor's office. They must verify that the information on the prescription is complete and accurate. To prepare the prescription, technicians retrieve, count, pour, weigh, measure and sometimes mix the medication. Then, they prepare the prescription labels, select the type of prescription container, and affix the labels on it.

In hospitals, Pharmacy Technicians may read patient charts and prepare and deliver medicine to patients, and then copy the information about the prescribed medication onto the patient's profile. Pharmacy Technicians may also gather a 24-hour supply of medicine for every patient.
