About Us
Herzing University Herzing University was one of the first post secondary institutions founded to train students for the computer industry. Since 1965 business and computer related education has been our focus at Herzing, even as we grew to encompass eleven colleges in the U.S. and Canada.
While expanding our campuses, we also diversified our educational programs to include the fields of business management, electronics and health care. We also raised the level of credentials from not only diplomas, but associate of science degrees at all U.S. campuses and bachelor of science degrees at most of them. At Herzing we also offer preparation for certification exams such as Microsoft® Certified Systems Engineer with credits (in the U.S.) transferable to a degree program. Information on Programs Offered:The program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level positions in various health care professions. Concentration courses are drawn from Herzing College health care diploma programs of study in Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Medical Billing and Insurance Coding, Medical Office Administration or Therapeutic Massage. Students must complete all the requirements of one of those programs to fulfill degree requirements. The program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level positions in various business enterprises. These career opportunities may be in areas such as accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales, marketing, and human resources. This program prepares students with the necessary academic knowledge and technical competencies for entry-level positions in the computer information systems development industry. These career opportunities may be in areas such as computer programming, desktop application, design and development, client-side Web site application design and development, database application design and development, and end-user support. This program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level networking positions in the computer industry. These career opportunities may be in areas such as network installation, network administration, and network support. The Associate of Science Degree in Interactive and Graphic Arts Program employs an integrated and coherent approach that prepares students with the necessary academic knowledge and technical competencies required for a wide range of positions in the technical application of modern graphic arts. The curriculum is focused on providing students with an introduction to designing and producing work for print, the worldwide web, television, cinema, multimedia, and digital entertainment using a variety of technical techniques. The program prepares students with the skills and academic knowledge necessary for a career as a legal assistant/paralegal working under the supervision of a licensed attorney. The American Bar Association defines a paralegal as “a person qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.” These career opportunities may be in small or large firms working as a legal assistant/paralegal. The duties of a legal assistant/paralegal include assisting the lawyer with research, brief preparation, and other legal office administration, but do not include practicing law, advising clients, or setting fees. The program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level or management training positions in various business enterprises. These career opportunities may be in areas such as accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, business administration, sales, marketing, human resources, legal office administration, or health care management. The Homeland Security and Public Safety bachelor's degree program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for advancement in entry-level positions in various law enforcement, fire service, and industrial security enterprises. These career opportunities may be in areas such as public safety, security, government agency, diplomatic security, and border patrol. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology program employs an integrated and coherent approach that prepares students with the necessary academic knowledge and technical competencies required for a range of positions. The curriculum is focused on designing, implementing, or supporting solutions to business problems in the general categories of Information Technology, Information Management, and Business Communications. Coursework is designed to enhance and build upon the knowledge and skills of students with associate degrees, completed coursework, or practical experience in either networking or programming applications. Career opportunities include, but are not limited to, such areas as systems analysis, application programming, web design, and network design or administration. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Interactive and Graphic Arts Program employs an integrated and coherent approach that prepares students with the necessary academic knowledge and technical competencies required for a wide range of positions in graphic arts. The curriculum is focused on designing and producing work for print, the World Wide Web, television, cinema, multimedia, and digital entertainment. Two majors within the degree enable students to specialize in either graphics design or game development. Potential entry-level job position titles include graphic designer, game developer, desktop publishing specialist, graphics designer, web designer, art director, publication designer,multimedia author,desktop publishing specialist, and document specialist. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Interactive and Graphic Arts Program employs an integrated and coherent approach that prepares students with the necessary academic knowledge and technical competencies required for a wide range of positions in graphic arts. The curriculum is focused on designing and producing work for print, the World Wide Web, television, cinema, multimedia, and digital entertainment. Potential entry-level job position titles include graphic designer, game developer, desktop publishing specialist, graphics designer, web designer, art director, publication designer,multimedia author,desktop publishing specialist, and document specialist. This program of study is designed to provide students with foundation skills and knowledge in various technical areas (e.g., information technology, computer-aided drafting, electronics). In addition, this program is further designed to teach the student the necessary business skills and academic knowledge for entry-level management positions in a technical environment. This program provides students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge to install, configure, manage, and maintain computer network systems. The DNS program is intended to provide students with tools to write industry leading certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Network + and CCNA. The introduction of students to the overall operation of the physician's office is the basic objective of this program. Students are trained to assist the physician in the examination room, to perform routine laboratory procedures and to handle financial records, correspondence, insurance forms and other administrative functions. Our ultimate goal is to prepare students to successfully gain entry-level employment as a Medical Assistant. The goal of the medical billing and insurance program is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the content of the medical record as well as extensive training in anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology. This program will provide the student with the knowledge and understanding to analyze medical records and assign codes to classify diagnoses and procedures while applying the principles of professional and ethical conduct. The program will prepare the student for an entry-level position as a medical coder in a hospital, clinic, or other health care facility. This program provides students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge to install, configure, manage, and maintain computer network systems and to write the Microsoft® Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification examinations. Upon completion of this program students should be able to: - Demonstrate the ability to install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot PC computer hardware.
- Demonstrate the ability to install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot functional network operating systems, infrastructure services, equipment (including wireless), security, and protocols.
- Demonstrate the ability to administer client-server applications.
- Demonstrate knowledge of security protocols and methodologies.
