About Us
Florida Technical College was founded in 1982 to provide post-secondary training in specialized business fields. FTC offers both associate degree and diploma programs in today's fastest growing occupations, such as medical assistant, business, paralegal studies, medical administrative assistant, network administration, programming, and computer drafting and design. Florida Technical College FTC has added new locations and programs to meet the changing needs of the Florida community. The Orlando main campus and Jacksonville main campus were first opened in 1982. The Auburndale branch was founded in 1990 and the DeLand campus followed in 1997. Florida Technical College programs are exciting and dynamic, evolving over the years to meet the needs of students and the job marketplace. Business and Management Technology and Electronics/Computer Technology degrees were first offered in 1984, followed by the Computer Drafting and Design degree in 1986. Medical Administrative Assistant and Network Administration/Programming degrees, and Network Administration and C++/JAVA Programming diplomas were added to the curriculum in 1996. Network Administration/Hardware was offered in 2001, Web Site and Graphic Design in 2002. Medical Assistant was offered in 2003, and Paralegal Studies was added in 2005.

Our diploma program's coursework concentrates on the computing markets recent programming and development tools, C++, and JAVA.Our Computer Drafting and Design diploma program gives students a basic understanding of CAD. Our program prepares students by teaching both the theory and skill applications in the Criminal Justice field. Graduates can seek entry-level employment in the law enforcement and corrections fields, among others.Our Electronics / Computer Technology degree program trains students for an exciting career in technology. Graduates will be prepared for an entry level position in various fields dealing eith electronics and computer technology. Our program provides students with the career training required for entry-level administrative and clerical employment in a doctor's office or other health care facilities. Coursework also emphasizes skills in accounting, office management, medical terminology, and medical transcription and coding. Our clinical program prepares students for a career in health care working directly with physicians and in other health care facilitators. Coursework emphasizes the use of EKG's, phlebotomy, X-Ray, CPR, First Aid, and other medical procedures. Our program provides students with training of entry-level skills for the Medical Assistant Technician field. The hands-on program includes an externship at a medical office.Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program will train students to obtain entry level positions in health care administrative offices through a combination of clinical and administrative training. Career occupation growth is expected to be the fastest for Medical Assistant positions in clinical and clerical offices. The need for Medical Billing and Coding Specialists will rise due to increasing demand for detailed records, especially in large group practices. Rapid growth also is expected in nursing care facilities, home healthcare services, and outpatient care centers. Students in Medical Billing and Coding Specialist diploma program will receive accelerated training in courses designed for skills in the health care office. Students will take courses in Medical Terminology, Procedural Coding, Diagnostic Coding, Insurance Billing and Anatomy and Physiology. To meet the demands of this occupation, Florida Technical College offers well rounded curricula and instruction from faculty that are experts in this field. Students will have the opportunity to practice in Externships at health care facilities. The courses offered, in-class training and valuable externship experience will give Florida Technical College graduates the necessary education to succeed in this occupation in the growing health care industry. Our Network Administration/Programming degree program teaches students the skills they need to begin exciting careers in the computer technology industry. Graduates are prepared for entry level positions in programming, networking and network administration. In just 18 months, our program will train you to be a part the growing legal industry. The program prepares you to work in family law, criminal law, property law, wills, and legal research and you'll be able to work in attorney offices, courts, corporate legal departments, and government agencies. The objective of the Patient Care Technician program is to provide the student with the appropriate theory and hands-on skills required for entry level positions in patient care technology, nursing assisting, physical therapy, occupational therapy, home health aides, electrocardiography and phlebotomy in today’s health care clinics and facilities. Occupation Outlook Overall employment of nursing and home health aides is projected to grow much faster than average for all occupations through the year 2014, according the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupation Outlook Handbook, 2007. Home health aides is expected to be the fastest growing occupation, as a result of both growing demand for home services from an aging population and efforts to contain costs by moving patients out of hospitals and nursing care facilities as quickly as possible Training Objectives Students will study principles and the practices of nursing fundamentals, anatomy and physiology, microbiology and infection control, patient care skills, pharmacology, physical therapy, phlebotomy and electrocardiography. Students will have the opportunity to gain training experience as part of their clinical rotation/externship. Our program combines the basic theories of advertising, design, and illustration with the use of electronic technology. Students acquire the skills needed for designing and maintaining Web pages and Web sites.
