Information on Programs Offered:The mission of the A.S. Medical Assistant Degree Program is to prepare students for employment as Medical Assistants who will work in doctor’s offices, clinics, and/or nursing homes. Students are prepared according to the Commission of Accreditation for Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) Standards.The mission of the A.S. Medical Transcription Degree Program is to prepare students to work in the field of medical transcription in a hospital, clinic, doctor’s office, transcription service settings, or from the home as an individual business owner.The mission of the A.S. Therapeutic Massage Degree Program is to provide students with in-depth knowledge and understanding of theory and extensive practice of a wide spectrum of different disciplines of massage. Students will establish confidence in their ability to properly assess clients’ needs and perform effective therapeutic massage and to possess an understanding of the details associated with owning and operating a massage practice.The mission of the Clinical Skin Care Program is to provide comprehensive training and practice in skin care treatment that prepares students to enter the workforce as a skin care practitioner. Objective: To develop a wide-range of skills in providing skin care treatments through instruction and practice. Students are prepared for work in medical, salon, or spa environments.The mission of the Facial Technology Program is to provide students with sufficient practice and understanding of the various tools, chemical, sanitation practices and techniques necessary to enter the skin care profession. Objective: To develop theory and practical skills for skin care treatment through instruction in salon management, ethics, sterilization, bacteriology, skin disorders, and spa services, as well as basic skin care regimes that include make up, hair removal, aromatherapy, masks, collagen and paraffin treatments.The mission of the Full Facial & Nail Spa Specialist Program is to provide the necessary theory and practical application of nail manicure and pedicure and skin care treatments that enable the student to enter the nail and/or skin care professions. Objective: To develop skills and offer supervised practice of a variety of nail care and beauty techniques, camouflage make up, and skin care treatments that enable the student to enter the nail and/or skin care profession. Courses are designed to provide the necessary theory and practical skills for skin care treatments and cover salon management, ethics, sterilization, bacteriology, skin disorders and spa services, as well as basic skin care regimes that include make up, hair removal, aromatherapy, masks and collagen, and paraffin treatments.The mission of the Health Insurance Billing and Coding Program is to provide students with the medical and technical knowledge necessary to perform manual and computerized tasks expected of medical billers and coders in today’s healthcare industry. Objective: To prepare students for national certification and Florida licensure as massage therapists.The mission of the A.S. Health Insurance Billing and Coding Degree Program is to provide students with an in-depth medical foundation and billing and coding expertise necessary to perform manual and computerized tasks expected of medical billers and coders in a variety of settings within the healthcare community. The mission of the A.S.
