    Career Institute of Florida specializes in short term or accelerated career training programs. Our goal is to transfer new skills to you, the student, in the shortest practical time to enable you to embark on a new career and enhanced lifestyle more quickly than traditional education allows.     Flexible Scheduling
    Our open enrollment schedule means you can start class when it is convenient for you rather than waiting for the start of regularly occurring terms, like semesters or quarters. In addition, we offer morning, afternoon and evening classes to fit almost any busy schedule.

    Financial Aid
    CIF assists students in applying for financial aid programs for which they may qualify. Financial aid advisors meet with students individually to answer questions and guide them through the aid process.

    Job Placement Assistance
    Career Institute of Florida does offer job placement assistance. Our job placement assistance is intended to help you make the transition from school to the workplace as quickly and easily as possible. As a CIF Graduate, you'll work with a career services advisor who will help you look for full-time work in your field of study. We'll give you the tools necessary to present yourself professionally, so you can start a rewarding career when you graduate.

    Upon successfully completing all requirements of a CIF program, the student will receive a diploma. Any additional third-party industry certifications are accomplished through third-party testing.

    Career Institute of Florida is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). The New Port Richie, Florida, campus is a satellite campus of the St. Petersburg, Florida, campus.

    Information on Programs Offered:

    Hospital Billing and Coding - Diploma

    The program is designed to prepare entry level coders for advanced employment as Professional Coders/Billers in a variety of facilities-based health care settings. This course prepares students for their CPC-H certification.

    Information Technology 

    This program is designed to prepare students for entry level careers in the  IT field.  The program provides a solid background in technical repair, user  support, and networking areas of IT.

    Graduates will be qualified to seek to  fill the following support positions:   

    - PC Technician    - Network Administrator  - Help Desk Technician   - Systems Engineer 

    MCSE 

    The objective of the MCSE Program is to prepare students for entry level  careers as network assistants, administrators or help desk personnel.

    Medical Assistant - Diploma

    You will learn many diverse clinical and administrative skills associated with this career. These skills include but are not limited to:

    • Taking medical histories
    • Recording vital signs
    • Preparing patients for examination
    • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
    • Instructing patients about medications and special diets
    • Prepare patients for x rays
    • Take electrocardiograms
    • Remove sutures
    • Change dressings

    You will also learn how to update and file patients' medical records, fill out insurance forms, schedule appointments, and billing and bookkeeping.

    Medical Assisting - Diploma

    Medical coding was developed as a universal language for the medical profession. It is essential for the accurate transmission of procedures and diagnosis data between health care providers and the many insurance companies that now act as third-party payers for the health care services rendered to patients. Numerical codes provide the clarity that insurance firms need to keep paperwork and payments flowing. Learning this numerical language puts a whole new world of employment possibilities at your fingertips. US and Canadian health care facilities of all kinds are searching for trained medical coders. Our course in medical coding fully prepares you for positions in this growth industry by providing you with a firm grasp of all aspects of medical coding.

    This program covers the following:

    • Intro to health care
    • Computer fundamentals
    • Human diseases
    • Pharmacology
    • Medical terminology
    • Anatomy and physiology
    • Insurance basics, medical billing and claims
    • ICD coding
    • CPT coding

    In addition, you'll complete extensive practicums and an externship at a billing service or coding company.

    Medical Office Manager 

    This program is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety  of health care settings as an entry level medical secretary primarily  focused on front office duties and skills.  

    Medical Transcription - Diploma

    Medical transcriptionists transcribe medical reports from doctors' dictation to document a patient's medical care and condition. These may include office chart notes, history and physical examinations, consultations, letters, memos, admission notes, emergency medicine reports and many laboratory and diagnostic studies. Because each report becomes a part of a patient's permanent healthcare record, the medical transcriptionist transcribes it with care, demonstrating an extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, human diseases, surgical procedures, diagnostic studies and laboratory tests to produce an accurate and complete medicolegal document. A mastery of English grammar, structure and style; a knowledge of medical transcription practices; skill in word processing, spelling and proofreading; and the highest professional standards contribute to the medical transcriptionist's ability to interpret, translate and edit medical dictation for content and clarity.

    This program covers the following:

    The program is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of  health care settings as entry level professional coders, medical record  coders, coding technicians, coding clerks, inpatient and outpatient medical  record coders, ambulatory surgical coders and medical coders and billers.   This course prepares students for their CPC and their CPC-H certifications
